3. Become a 3-point threat

There’s been one constant flaw throughout Antetokounmpo’s career so far: 3-point shooting. It’s partly due to not having to shoot as he can get to the rim without much hassle. Also, it’s partly to do an unwillingness to shoot. I’m certainly not saying he’s as bad as Ben Simmons; Antetokounmpo will take an open 3-pointer every now and then. However, it’s just not a very reliable source of offense.

Antetokoumpo’s best shooting season was his rookie year, when he knocked down 34.7 percent of his 3-pointers on 1.5 attempts per game. In his sophomore season, he shot just 15.9 percent on just 0.5 attempts per game. What happened? Why the sudden decrease in percentage and attempts?

Since then, Antetokounmpo has shot 25.7 percent on 1.4 attempts in 2015-16, 27.2 percent on 2.3 attempts in 2016-17. Most recently, last season Antetokounmpo shot 30.7 percent on 1.9 attempts per game. As we can see, the percentages have slightly increased in each of the last three seasons.

It would be great if Antetokounmpo could get his 3-point percentage up to around the 35 percent mark. Then teams would actually have to guard him closely along the perimeter, leading to more open space across the court for teammates to spot up or cut.
