MVP: Luka Doncic

Is it crazy to suggest an ordinary rookie can claim the Most Valuable Player trophy? Yes, but Doncic is no ordinary rookie. While playing overseas, Doncic took home MVP honors in what is widely considered the second-best league in the world.

Ok, in all seriousness, Doncic’s chances of claiming the NBA MVP award are probably at less than one percent. He averaged 16.6 points and 4.4 assists per game for Real Madrid en route to winning MVP, which simply won’t get it done in the NBA.

One also has to consider where the Mavericks will end up in the standings: outside the playoff picture looking in.

Doncic’s experience in the EuroLeague should serve him well as he transitions to the NBA, and it will likely help him win Rookie of the Year, but when it comes to the Most Valuable Player, a lot more is needed both individually and team-wise from the Slovenian.
