One of the deeper teams in the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets have a few players that can realistically contend for individual awards during the 2018-19 season.
Making a serious run at an Eastern Conference title is not in the cards for the Brooklyn Nets this season. Sneaking into the playoffs would be a tall task for a franchise that hasn’t seen 30 wins or a postseason appearance since 2015.
The Nets are similar to the Los Angeles Lakers in that one of the best things the franchise has going for itself is a bunch of salary cap space next summer. But the Nets don’t have LeBron James on their roster, so this season is beginning to look like an audition for its current players to be part of the core group moving forward if Brooklyn signs a superstar or two in 2019.
After the cap space, perhaps the Nets’ biggest strength is depth. The team’s bench consists of a few players who could easily be starters, either for the Nets or for another team.
Between their starting five and backups, the Nets also have a few players who can be in the discussion for some of the NBA’s 2018-19 individual awards.
