3. Utilize Robert Williams

Not often do you see a player taken with the 27th pick in the NBA Draft with as much talent as Robert Williams. For weeks leading up to the draft, it appeared that he was solid pick to go in the lottery or a couple of picks later.

On draft night each team went up on the clock and Williams’ name was never called. Then came Boston at No. 27, which took the big man out of Texas A&M. It’s only fitting that Danny Ainge and the team came out with one of the bigger steals of the draft.

If Williams can find ways to stay healthy and clean up any question marks with his off-court issues, then the Celtics found a gem that late in the first round. Those are the two major reasons he fell so far. We’ve seen a lot of both of these issues in the offseason already.

Williams has already sat out due to a knee injury and he’s missed two mandatory team events. He’s easily one of the better prospects of this draft. His shooting and offense remain a question mark, but his athleticism should allow him to be effective enough.

Where he can come in and be deadly is on the defensive end. In his sophomore season, he averaged 2.6 blocks and 0.8 steals per game. He may not find that same success in the NBA, but he should still be successful on that end of the floor.
