The Phoenix Suns traded Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss for Ryan Anderson and De’Anthony Melton, which benefits some people more than others.

While most deals seemingly involve some draft considerations, this one was a straight up two-for-two swap. Evidently, the two teams considered the deal pretty fair.

The logic is pretty clear. The Phoenix Suns got a decent rookie in De’Anthony Melton, and were able to swap their bad contract for the Houston Rockets’ bad contract. Marquese Chriss was the price of doing the deal.

From Houston’s perspective, they get a player in Brandon Knight whose contract is easier to move than Ryan Anderson‘s. Melton was the price for them. Knight could be a useful backup in the playoffs (unlike Anderson), and Chriss could fill a role.

For some players on the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets, the deal will end up helping them out. For others, not so much.
