Sixth Man of the Year: Malcolm Brogdon

As the 36th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Malcolm Brogdon defied the odds during his rookie season. The former Virginia star became the second round pick to win the Rookie of the Year award. The guard averaged 10.2 points, 4.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 40.4 percent from 3-point range. Brogdon only started 28 of the 75 games he played in.

In Brogdon’s second season, he only played in 48 games, starting just 20 and suffering a partially torn left quadricep tendon. He saw his scoring average increase to 13 points per game, and he also proved to be very efficient as he hit 48.5 percent of his field goal attempts.

Since acquiring Eric Bledsoe, Brogdon’s place on the bench was confirmed. This doesn’t look to change for next season either. If Brogdon can slightly increase his stats overall, he should most definitely be in the conversation for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
