Memphis Grizzlies: 3 big questions heading into 2018-19 NBA season
3. What will Jaren Jackson Jr. show us in his rookie season?
Jaren Jackson Jr. has the potential to thrive in the modern NBA. Standing 6’11” with quick feet and a developing outside shot, Jackson’s game has been compared to that of Al Horford, which could make him a valuable cog in a possible playoff contender down the line.
He will likely start the season coming off the bench behind JaMychal Green, bringing with it the opportunity to come along slowly without the pressure that comes with most top-five picks.
Given the state of Memphis’ roster, Jackson’s play won’t have a large impact on their win total, but at the same time, he’s still expected to prove why he was regarded as one of the best in his draft class.
Whether he comes out and takes the starting job away from Green or winds up needing more fine-tuning in the summer, it will be interesting to see in his inaugural season what kind of player Jaren Jackson is and who he can possibly become.
