The rebuilding Atlanta Hawks likely won’t have many strong candidates for many of this season’s awards. These players have the best chance of snagging them.

Generally, players on bad teams don’t get much consideration for the NBA’s end-of-season awards. The reasoning for this doesn’t require much brainpower; many of the league’s bottom-feeding clubs simply don’t have a lot of players that are worthy of such nominations. After all, if these teams had a bunch of All-Stars on their respective rosters, they wouldn’t be bad.

The Atlanta Hawks are one of those bad teams. They have some young talent with the potential to become stars down the line, but for now, the team’s roster consists of average players, projects and unproven rookies that come in with question marks of their own.

Realistically, the Hawks have a better chance of coming away empty-handed in the trophy count. But hey, crazier things have happened. Perhaps one of their hyped freshmen will take home the Rookie of the Year. Maybe one of their players will blossom into the league’s MVP.

To quote J.P. from Angels in the Outfield, “it could happen.” If it does happen, these are the Hawks players that could make it a reality.
