5. Devin Booker continues developing

Until Deandre Ayton, Josh Jackson or someone else proves themselves to be a bona fide second star, the Phoenix Suns will go as far as Devin Booker takes them. To that end, continuing his development is one of the Suns’ most important tasks.

If he could become a good defender that would be ideal, but it’s possible he’ll never be anything more than average on that end. It will be offensively where he makes his money in the NBA.

The Suns should look to develop Devin Booker into a James Harden-type player, and following former Phoenix Suns’ coach Mike D’Antoni‘s blueprint might be wise. Booker should be given the opportunity to be the primary initiator of the offense, as a de facto point guard.

HoopsHabit will be releasing an article shortly about specific goals for Devin Booker, but for now, suffice it to say that improving his handle is paramount and minor improvement across the board would be encouraging to see as well.

He’s received a max contract, and now he has to prove that he’s earned it.
