Most Valuable Player: Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant could bring home his second MVP award this season. The two-time Finals MVP has been having superb regular seasons the past few years but has not received much attention for it.

This might be because of the massive amounts of hate surrounding his decision to join the Warriors in the 2016 offseason.

Now that DeMarcus Cousins has vilified himself by joining Golden State, some of the hate has been diverted from Durant. This may be what KD needed to finally be recognized for his performances in the regular season.

In the last two seasons, Durant has averaged a combined 25.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. He has been a killer on the offensive end as always, shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from deep.

His efficient scoring is a large reason as to why the Warriors are virtually unguardable as a unit.

One thing that has been very impressive for Durant is his improved defense. He is finally taking full advantage of his lanky 7-foot wingspan and is blocking shots at a high rate. His defensive potential has been unlocked and is taking pride in becoming an elite defender.

Last season, he finished in the top 10 for blocks per game.

If Durant has another outstanding season and the Warriors win 60-plus games, there is no reason he can’t win the MVP award. This achievement would add to the already great resume that Durant has and will do nothing but help his legacy.
