1. Increase his shooting productivity

There’s no doubt about LaVine’s ability to shoot the basketball. Last season, LaVine led the team in field goal attempts per game with 14.8. After all, he’s a shooting guard so it’s not unexpected that LaVine is consistently looking for his shot.

The downside is obvious, he didn’t shoot the ball well at all. His 38.3 percent shooting from the field was 14th on the team, behind Cameron Payne and Jerian Grant.

When analyzing LaVine’s shooting performance, it’s fair to say that his 2017-18 season was a bit of an aberration.

His previous career low before last season was 42.2 percent as a rookie in 2014-15. Before his injury in the 2016-17 season, LaVine was shooting a career high 45.9 percent and 38.7 percent from 3-point territory.

While it’s clear his knee injury affected his shot last season, it’s important that LaVine improves upon last season’s statistics. He’s a shooter, and while he might not share Jabari Parker’s lack of affinity for defense, he is paid to score.

This upcoming campaign is another development season for the Chicago Bulls. They’ve locked in on an identity and it’s all about offense. The Bulls will attempt to improve defensively but their focus is mainly on the offensive end.

Zach LaVine is the key to much of what the Bulls want to do. While he’s prone to poor shooting nights, he’s going to need to be effective, both at the rim and from long range.
