1. Limit turnovers

Throughout the course of a 52-win season, there is always an obvious tendency to overlook how the relinquished opportunities impact an offense — that is, until they end up being the difference-maker in a playoff series.

In the losses against the Celtics, Covington’s play wasn’t just attributed to his streaky shooting, but costly turnovers and poor defense as well.

To be fair, his turnover numbers were not as rough as the rest of the players on the Sixers’ roster. He only averaged 1.3 turnovers per game last season, as opposed to a few notable players like Ben Simmons, Dario Saric and Markelle Fultz, who all averaged 2.0 or more.

Turnovers are definitely something that Covington and the 76ers must desperately mend before this season, as they were one of the worst turnover teams in the NBA in 2017-18.

If Robert Covington can continue to maintain confidence in himself and his surrounding players, he should be capable of some high-caliber performances in 2018-19.
