3. Be aggressive in the lane

Covington clearly hasn’t shown as much belligerence when driving to the paint as many would like to see. His ball-handling frailty is one of the main reasons for that, and he doesn’t show a lot of urgency initially when driving to the bucket either.

There seems to be an existing skepticism in Covington at times when standing at the top of the key. He is either going to let it fly from deep, or give the ball up — which can often have its advantages to keep the possession from going the other way.

He averaged 1.44 seconds per touch last season, the lowest of any non-big on the Sixers, and he also made only 53.1 percent of his layups.

If he can improve the level in which he penetrates and finishes around the rim, then it should translate to more easy buckets for the team as a whole.
