Following his most impressive year in the league, here are three goals for Miami Heat swingman Josh Richardson in season 2018-19.

After signing a four-year, $42 million contract in the lead-up to the 2017-18 season, Miami Heat swingman Josh Richardson knew he had a point to prove.

Following an underwhelming second season in the league where he was hampered by injury, Richardson returned to display the form that impressed many observers in his debut year.

At 6’6″ and with a 6’10” wingspan, Richardson’s combination of length and athleticism has helped transform him into an exceptional wing threat for the Heat.

In a team-high 81 games last season, the former second round pick averaged 12.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 33.2 minutes per game. After struggling mightily with his shot in his second season, the 24-year-old Richardson responded by posting .451/.378/.845 shooting splits.

Furthermore, Richardson further enhanced his reputation at the defensive end of the floor, where he was just one of three players in the league to record at least 120 steals and 70 blocks. As a result, Richardson narrowly missed out on NBA All-Defensive team honors, garnering three First Team votes in the process.

With the Heat returning with virtually the same cast from last season, it’s going to be imperative that key pieces such as Richardson continue to evolve their overall games. With this in mind, here are three goals for Richardson in 2018-19.
