Bringing back Marco Belinelli

One floor-spacer the San Antonio Spurs brought back this offseason is Marco Belinelli. Belinelli previously played for the Spurs from 2013-15. During those two years he was a part of the team’s success in winning an NBA championship. The Spurs brought back Belinelli (two years, $12 million) at the start of free agency.

Despite his at times questionable decision-making and outward appearance of someone who has just rolled out of bed 15 minutes ago, Belinelli is a very valuable player and another good addition by the Spurs. Last year he was an important role player for the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 13.6 points and 2.0 3-pointers per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the field.

The Spurs lost Danny Green this summer, but gained back Belinelli, who at this point in his career is playing like the better player on the offensive end. He should make a good substitute, and his price tag of $12 million is more than reasonable.

Grade: B+
