Going into the 2018 NBA offseason it seemed like the San Antonio Spurs were headed for a rebuild. With Kawhi Leonard‘s departure imminent, it was hard to see how they would be able to remain competitive in the Western Conference.
How silly we all were to think that.
As always, the Spurs found a way to put the right pieces together and assemble a team that is certainly good enough to make the playoffs next season, and might even be able to make a postseason run.
San Antonio drafted well again and managed to get a good return for their dissatisfied All-Star, Kawhi Leonard. They also solidified their supporting cast by making some wise free agent signings. They wont be the most talented team in the league next year, but they will be competitive and that is what we have come to expect from them.
