NBA: Ranking all 30 starting power forwards for 2018-19

6. Blake Griffin, Detroit Pistons

Count us among those willing to give the Blake GriffinAndre Drummond experiment more than 33 games to prove its merit. Though he’s still not an average 3-point shooter, Griffin’s status as perhaps the NBA’s best passing power forward means this union could work.

In a small sample size with the Detroit Pistons last year, Griffin posted 19.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and what would’ve been a career-high 6.2 assists per game. He only made 34.8 percent of his whopping 5.4 long range attempts per game, but you can bet head coach Dwane Casey will be able to make this frontcourt pairing work within the construct of a modern NBA offense.

Health remains Griffin’s biggest obstacle to earning this ranking and re-establishing himself as one of the game’s preeminent bigs. If he can do so and embrace his central role in Casey’s system, a bounce-back year into NBA stardom isn’t out of the question for this point forward.
