Milwaukee Bucks: 3 big questions heading into 2018-19 NBA season
The Milwaukee Bucks want to take the next step forward this season. What are the three biggest questions for this team in 2018-19?
The Milwaukee Bucks did a lot with a little this offseason, reshuffling their frontcourt and putting a new man on the bench in head coach Mike Budenholzer. Every move this summer was done with an eye towards contention. This team needs to prove to superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo that he can compete in Milwaukee.
Part of that road has been eased by the departure of LeBron James from the Eastern Conference, but that does not mean the road will be easy. The Bucks have not finished a season higher than sixth in the Eastern Conference since 2000-01, which was also the last season the team won a playoff series.
New additions in Brook Lopez, Ersan Ilyasova, Pat Connaughton and Donte DiVincenzo will change the team’s dynamic, as will Budenholzer. The team has a number of young players still growing into their roles, chiefly Thon Maker and Sterling Brown. There are also developmental projects on this team — last year’s first-round pick D.J. Wilson, or undrafted rookie Trevon Duval — that have a level of uncertainty.
With a changing landscape and a rejiggered roster, what does the next season have in store for the Milwaukee Bucks? What are the most pressing questions this team will need to answer? Let’s leap into the questions and their potential answers as the 2018-19 NBA season draws ever closer.
