Indiana Pacers: 3 big questions heading into 2018-19 NBA season
1. Will Myles Turner take the next step?
Many were disappointed in the play of Myles Turner in 2017-18, having expected him to take a massive leap forward as the face of the franchise, similar to what Victor Oladipo wound up doing in his place.
Turner’s numbers actually dipped from the previous season to 12.7 points and 6.4 rebounds a night, and while some of this was no doubt due to the rise of his now All-Star teammate, what also played a part was a struggle to adapt and evolve in his role.
To his credit, Myles has taken steps to correct such backtracks over the summer, taking a path similar to Oladipo’s by getting in better shape to prepare for the season as well as constantly putting in work on the court.
Standing at 6’11” with a feathery touch from distance, Turner has the potential to be one of the most unique two-way forces in the game.
Fans and analysts were wrong about Turner’s coming-out party last season, but if it comes to fruition in 2019, the Pacers will become an even more formidable opponent with the chance to do some serious damage in the postseason.
