You can call it a bad offseason. You can even call it a terrible one, but losing the best player on the planet will not establish the Cleveland Cavaliers as one of the best teams entering the 2018-19 NBA season.
Two noteworthy moves the Cavaliers made over the summer were locking up Kevin Love for the future and selecting former Alabama point guard Collin Sexton with the eighth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
No one can actually make a case for the Cavaliers being at the bottom of the power rankings right now. On the other hand, you’d have to consider yourself insane to think the Cavaliers will cruise into the 2019 NBA Playoffs.
Every season we experience countless pleasant and unpleasant surprises, which means we cannot predict Cleveland’s season with accuracy. But if somebody was looking to invest their money in Cleveland, a bet for being a borderline playoff team would most likely be the most rewarding.
