NBA: Ranking all 30 starting shooting guards for 2018-19

14. Zach LaVine, Chicago Bulls

Zach LaVine is perhaps the worst defender on this list, and if he shows the same signs of rust that he did last year, this ranking will be way too high. The Chicago Bulls probably weren’t thrilled with the 16.7 points per game he posted in 24 appearances last year, since they came on uninspiring .383/.341/.813 shooting splits.

However, coming back from an ACL tear is not easy, and with a full offseason under his belt, he should be much better in 2018-19. LaVine still showed signs of being a high riser, and his game extends beyond simply being a bouncy dunker.

Remember, LaVine drained 38.7 percent of his 3-pointers in his final season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging a career-high 18.9 points per game. His contract is still a monstrosity, but since that’s not a factor here, we’re still believers in this 23-year-old becoming a go-to scorer and reliable 3-point threat.
