Houston Rockets: 3 goals for Eric Gordon in 2018-19
1. Win Sixth Man Award again
Despite putting together one of the best offensive seasons of his career, Gordon managed to fall short of capturing the NBA’s highest bench honor for the second straight year in a row.
Gordon, who took home Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2017, finished as the runner-up behind former teammate and current Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams.
Although Gordon might find himself losing shots to Carmelo Anthony this coming season, finding a way to capture the award for the second time in the last three seasons could actually make for the best revenge for Clutch City’s official sixth man in 2019.
The former Indiana Hoosiers star — who started 30 games for the Rockets last season — will likely be in the running for the award once again, and should Gordon take full advantage of the open shots that he generates, there is a strong possibility the former All-American could join Kevin McHale, Ricky Pierce, Detlef Schrempf and Lou Will as the only players in league history to win the honor twice.
Thriving and playing alongside two of the game’s best playmakers should only help him cement his case by season’s end.
