Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 big questions heading into 2018-19 NBA season
1. Will we see the Timberwolves version of Kevin Love?
Since arriving in Cleveland back in 2014, Cavs, and really NBA fans in general, have been pining for the return of the version of Kevin Love that played for the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first six years of his career.
Younger and certainly bigger, Love was the ultimate versatile threat, an unstoppable force on both glasses who could both score and dish from any spot on the court, including a feathery touch from beyond the arc long before such a trend became normalized.
It was this style of play that led to the most eye-popping of numbers of his career, including 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game during the 2013-14 season.
Once slotted next to James and Kyrie Irving, the style of play Love became so accustomed to slowly faded away, replaced instead with a heavy dosage of spot-up 3s and not much else.
Now, Love is unquestionably the go-to guy on the offensive end, opening the door for the version that established him as an All-Star to return to the court.
Given his advanced age and a body that’s piled up injuries as a result of four consecutive runs to the NBA Finals, Love may not physically be able to produce at such a level again, but given his inconsistent production at times with the Cavs, it’ll sure be fun to see him try.
