3. Brandon Knight

Brandon Knight hasn’t been impressive at all during his run with the Phoenix Suns, but he’ll likely be the starter anyway, considering the only other true points guards on the roster are rookie Elie Okobo, Shaquille Harrison and Isaiah Canaan. What he does with the extra playing time remains to be seen.

Knight was at least a decent starter at his other stops around the league, and there’s a chance he could reclaim that form again. If he just stays healthy and performs like he has on the Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons, that’ll be considered a breakout for a player currently thought of as a liability.

Knight is one of the easiest to players to make the case for having a breakout year, because he’s been good in the past. If he averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game (his averages over the first three years of his career), that would be great.

For Brandon Knight, the key is to stay healthy. If he can do that, a breakout year might come to him. After missing all of last season and a combined 58 games over the two years prior, just staying on the court would be a breakout for Knight at this point.
