16. Lonzo Ball, Los Angeles Lakers

This is exceptionally generous for a second-year point guard who shot 36 percent from the field, 30.5 percent from 3-point range and 45.1 percent from the free throw line as a rookie, but playing alongside LeBron James will typically have this kind of effect.

To that end, Lonzo Ball should be better in 2018-19, and he was already fairly good in his first NBA season aside from shooting. After all, he posted 10.2 points, 7.2 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game last year.

The ball won’t be in his hands as much, but he’ll still get to orchestrate the offense plenty as the Los Angeles Lakers look to ease LeBron’s all-encompassing burden on offense. If Ball can develop as an off-ball threat and keep up his surprisingly stout defense from his rookie season, he could very easily take a second year leap that wouldn’t have been expected otherwise.
