Via the draft and free agency, the Dallas Mavericks made a handful of moves to improve their team in 2018. What are some things to look for during their next season?

Regardless of whether or not they make the playoffs, the Dallas Mavericks will be one of the teams to keep an eye on during the 2018-19 campaign. It would be wise to tune in to see more than what could possibly be Dirk Nowitzki‘s last season. Brimming with young talent and some underrated veterans, this team may be more fun to watch than we think.

What did the Mavericks do during the offseason? They traded up to land one of the most lauded European prospects of all time, Luka Doncic. DeAndre Jordan finally ended up in Dallas. Sure, they let some minor bench pieces go, but the Mavs improved on the whole.

Unfortunately for Dallas fans, so did their conference. In another basketball universe, the Western Conference is not teeming with MVP-caliber players or super-teams who just seem to keep getting better. There is a distant world in which this current Mavericks team competes hard for that final playoff spot, and maybe even gets within striking distance of it. This is not that world, however.

Still, there will be plenty of things to watch for Mavericks fans this season. Their season will reveal glimpses into their future. Personnel questions and team trajectory are two areas to monitor. What specifically should you be looking for when you come across the Mavericks on NBA TV?
