Portland Trail Blazers: 3 goals for Maurice Harkless in 2018-19

Maurice Harkless saw a major drop in a lot of statistical categories last year. One of the few bright spots was his 3-point shooting. Harkless shot a career-high 41.5 percent from distance on 2.0 attempts per game.

He made 49 total 3s, falling short of the 82 needed to qualify for the league’s official leaderboard. However, had he made the list, his perimeter shooting would have tied him with Kevin Love and George Hill for 20th-best percentage in the NBA.

The Trail Blazers are going to need more of this hot shooting in the upcoming season. Portland’s front office made an effort this year to solidify a roster that can stretch the floor with its abilities from beyond the arc. This will theoretically give the offense more space to work with in half-court sets.

If Harkless is able to maintain his shooting prowess in 2019, that would definitely help Portland become a more potent team on the offensive end.
