Washington Wizards: 3 goals for John Wall in 2018-19
1. Stay healthy
Wall has managed to stay relatively healthy during his career but during the 2017-18 season, he hit a bit of a rough patch with his knee. Wall was expected to be out six to eight weeks, but ended up missing half the season, including his fifth consecutive All-Star Game, due to the injury.
He underwent an arthroscopic procedure to address the issue in January.
It was the first significant injury of Wall’s career and since then, it’s hopefully encouraged him to take care of his body. As he approaches his ninth season in the league, Wall will need to focus on staying on the court.
Without him in the rotation last season, Washington posted a record of 20-21. Regardless of awards, they are simply not a better team without Wall on the floor.
He’ll just need to stay healthy for the 2018-19 season for maximum success. Wall isn’t getting any younger so he’ll need to have a smarter approach to take on the grueling 82-game schedule. He’ll have backcourt help with Satoransky and Rivers in the rotation.
Head coach Scott Brooks will just need to utilize them as well.
