2. Lead by example

John Wall spoke this offseason of wanting to win the NBA’s MVP award this upcoming season. To do that, he will need to lead by example with his play on the court and not get into spats with his teammates in the media.

With Marcin Gortat gone to the Los Angeles Clippers, all that seems to be behind him now.

Wall shot 39.3 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from 3-point range in the Wizards losses in 2017-18. In victories, Wall shot 44.2 percent from the floor and 41.8 percent from 3-point land.

Granted, Wall suffered a knee injury back on Nov. 10, the 10th game of the year, but playing through injuries simply means relying on his teammates more.

To make matters worse, Wall went 58.7 percent from the free throw line during the month of December. He simply wasn’t at 100 percent last season and it showed.

If this becomes the case in 2018-19, luckily for Wall he’ll have Tomas Satoransky and a veteran presence in the frontcourt to boost his confidence.
