8. Hire a new general manager

This is getting ridiculous.

It was on June 7 when Philadelphia general manager Bryan Colangelo was forced to resign after a bizarre story broke that his wife was the author of several anonymous Twitter burner accounts.

She used the accounts to criticize the team and its players in defense of her husband. as well as Jerry Colangelo, who was special adviser to the 76ers and recommended his son as GM. The elder Colangelo has also been given the boot by the team.

76ers’ coach Brett Brown has filled in admirably. But it should be pointed out that he was at the helm when the team failed to lure LeBron James away from the Los Angeles Lakers or mastermind a trade with the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard.

Brown will now have to give all of his focus to coaching, leaving possible trades, free agent deals, cap space and scouting in limbo.

But, according to Brian Seltzer from Sixers.com, the team is showing no urgency.

"“I think it’s going to take a while,” Sixers’ Managing Partner Josh Harris warns. “We really need to find the right person. We’ve developed a special culture.”"

Finding the right person is important, but not more important than having a General Manager in place before the season begins.

Maybe the team should contact the man who started the process. Sam Hinkie is available.

If you think that is a prosperous idea, know that Harris was asked about Hinkie and did not say no.
