Signing Bruno Caboclo

In a summer where the Rockets sought to get much younger, Houston sought to acquire yet another wing player, signing Bruno Caboclo to a training camp contract this past week.

Caboclo, who was selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, spent his first three and a half seasons with the Toronto Raptors prior to being traded to the Sacramento Kings in February.

He has played just 35 NBA games in his four seasons, as the 6’9″, 220-pound product out of Brazil has spent the majority of time in the G League, averaging 12.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game on 40 percent shooting from the field in 114 outings.

Although Caboclo managed to nab himself yet another contract, it is likely that the Rockets will seek to keep him on a two-way contract, as Houston waived guard R.J. Hunter to make way for Caboclo.

His length and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect, although the player who drew initial comparisons to Kevin Durant is still in the midst of working his way into become a viable rotation player in the league.

Caboclo fits within the Rockets system, although he may need some time before being officially ready to handle the rigors of playing consistent minutes at the next level, as the 22-year-old should be considered as a long shot to make the official roster.
