If the San Antonio Spurs do end up making a trade at some point prior to the 2019 NBA trade deadline, chances are one of these players will be involved.

A new era has begun for the San Antonio Spurs. After years of dominance and enjoying annual “contender” status, the franchise could soon be engulfed in trade rumors as speculation on the team’s impending demise becomes louder and louder.

San Antonio has never been a team known to swap and switch out pieces at will. Still, the recent decision to part with Kawhi Leonard could start a chain reaction of moves that puts this club on the path towards a major rebuild.

So let’s say the Spurs decide to make a trade in 2018-19. In that instance, who would be the players sent packing? There aren’t a ton of tantalizing options currently on the roster, but a few stand out as realistic trade pieces. Especially with an aging roster like San Antonio’s, it may be best to ship out those veterans for future assets.

Even if a trade never materializes, it’s an interesting question to mull over. Do the Spurs have trade chips heading into 2018-19, and if so, what names are stitched on the backs of their jerseys?

Only time will tell if a deal is struck between now and Feb. 7. For the time being, let’s turn our attention to the Spurs players most likely to be wearing different jerseys by the end of the upcoming NBA season.
