Richaun Holmes trade/Jonah Bolden signing

Philadelphia made a minor move in preparation for the arrival of big man Jonah Bolden. They parted ways with center Richaun Holmes, sending him to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for cash back on July 20. A few days later, the Sixers signed Bolden to a four-year, $7 million rookie deal.

Bolden joins Philadelphia after spending this past season overseas with Maccabi Tel-Aviv. He averaged 6.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game for the team through 29 appearances in EuroLeague play. He was a second round selection by Philadelphia in the 2017 NBA Draft and had been sent overseas this past season. He appeared on the Sixers’ Summer League squad this past summer as well, putting up 6.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game through six appearances.

The 6’10” native is still developing his shot from the perimeter. He shot just 31.9 percent from 3-point land for Maccabi Tel-Aviv last season. If he can develop his 3-point shot more, he could find himself cracking the rotation off the bench soon enough. Right now, Bolden still needs to develop, which could mean he could see time in the G League in 2018-19.
