Drafting Shake Milton

As a 6’6″ combo guard, Shake Milton (pick No. 54) was probably the wildcard acquisition in the draft by the Sixers. They acquired Milton’s rights from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Ray Spalding (No. 56) and Kostas Antetokounmpo (No. 60).

Milton has already signed a two-way contract with Philadelphia, making him another G League rotational guy to keep an eye on. With his time spent developing on both circuits, Milton could find himself cracking the rotation in no time.

He was a versatile scorer this past season with the SMU Mustangs, producing 18.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.4 steals per contest on 43.4 percent shooting from 3-point range. Milton averaged 2.6 made 3-pointers per game in 2017-18, which was a career-high for him.

His versatility will be something to watch going forward as Philadelphia looks to improve as a team. He’s a solid spot-up shooter that needs to continue to add to what he can do. All in all, he was a solid pickup for a team like the Philadelphia 76ers.
