The Detroit Pistons want to get better, but they also want to free up some cap space. They have a few players that could be on the move this season.

The Detroit Pistons are beginning their push toward their future. Their new head coach Dwane Casey gradually built the Toronto Raptors into an Eastern Conference power, and the Pistons are hoping he will do the same for them.

With Stan Van Gundy out the door, the majority of the roster is officially is on notice. Very few of the players joined the team under Casey and the current regime. Detroit will be attempting to change its image, so some players may have to go.

While the NBA has been evolving over the past few years, SVG had the Pistons living a decade in the past with his system. The Pistons are a team strapped for cash, but they look like they are trying to win now after they acquired Blake Griffin at the trade deadline last season. Management will have to get creative to improve the roster, and, in order to do that, they may have to trade away some young contributors for better fitting pieces.

It will be interesting to see what players make the cut for the future. When looking at the Pistons, the majority of their established core are on the older side. In order to compete in the NBA, they need to get younger and adapt to the modern league. They need more shooting, and they need to get better at the point guard position. In today’s NBA, no one is untouchable and Pistons’ fans are about to see that firsthand this upcoming season.
