2. George Hill
Unlike Kyle Korver, George Hill has been quite a disappointment in his Cavs tenure thus far. Being nothing close to an improvement for Isaiah Thomas, Hill could be one of the reasons the Cleveland Cavaliers failed to win a single game during the 2018 NBA Finals.
Back when the Cleveland Cavaliers blew up their roster in February, Hill was thought to be a big asset and a huge win for the team. Previous point guards Derrick Rose and Isaiah Thomas just didn’t get the job done, forcing the front office to shake things up.
Hill was supposed to add some much-needed depth and experience to the squad, being the oldest of the newcomers. The result was not what we expected, as Hill’s offensive production would take a dip while also being a defensive liability.
In the 2018-19 season, Hill is not set for a bounce-back season, though. Generally speaking, being without LeBron means getting more chances. The same does not necessarily apply when you draft what hopefully is your franchise point guard for the next decade.
Hill could be demoted from the starting point guard to the backup point guard if Collin Sexton proves himself early on, thus limiting his contribution on the floor. Where he can still contribute is by mentoring Sexton, making sure he evolves as a playmaker.
