Drafting George King

After nailing their first three selections, the Suns could’ve traded the 59th overall pick for peanuts and draft night still would’ve been a resounding success. Instead, Phoenix emerged with four new rookies, taking Colorado wing George King with the penultimate pick.

King is one of the oldest players in the draft at 24 years old and is unlikely to see meaningful minutes with the Suns, given the fact that Devin Booker, T.J. Warren, Josh Jackson, Mikal Bridges, Trevor Ariza, Troy Daniels and Davon Reed are all ahead of him in the wing rotation.

On a two-way contract, King will likely spend most of his time in the G League. Still, after shooting 40.1 percent from 3-point range on 3.6 attempts per game during his four-year career with the Buffaloes, he’s a local draft-and-stash prospect worth taking a flier on.
