The Orlando Magic look like they could go in various directions over the course of the coming season. Here is why trading for Kemba Walker should not be one of them.

As it stands right now, the Orlando Magic look like a roster that could see some upheaval between now and next season’s trade deadline. This is because they have a lot of young players who need guidance, and a surplus of frontcourt players.

While one train of thought is that Orlando should simply stay as is and see what it can get from what will likely be another return to the draft lottery next summer, others believe that the time is now to take the rebuild to the next phase.

The young talent would appear to be in place, and despite there being many holes in the roster, the lack of depth at the point guard position is the bellowing elephant in the room. The chance to draft one next summer is there, but so too is going out and getting a high-level player right now.

That’s where Kemba Walker, an All-Star point guard for the Charlotte Hornets, comes in. It is clear the Hornets need to change their direction and approach if they want to one day be a contending team, meaning a rebuild could be on the way.

With their franchise going to shift their focus before long, should the Magic take a look at bringing Walker in to increase their own efforts in returning to relevancy?

The short answer is no, but it goes well beyond the fact he will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. Here are three expanded reasons Orlando should stay away, and continue on the weary path they’ve been on for some time now.
