The Los Angeles Lakers have put together quite the offseason. With less than two months to go before the start of the 2018-19 campaign, what do the current power rankings for their top five players look like?

These last couple of months have been a wild ride for the Los Angeles Lakers. Between putting together a suspect draft class, signing LeBron James and constructing the Meme Team, there’s a wide-ranging mix of optimism and uncertainty in Hollywood right now.

Can they truly contend, or will LeBron not be enough to carry them through the West? Will any of the “young core” players take that next step towards stardom? How will all of these mismatched puzzle pieces fit together to form a coherent picture? So many questions still to be answered, and yet so much time remains before answers are received.

For now, the focus is on figuring out where the Lakers stand heading into training camp. Who’s hot, and who’s not? Summer League and offseason rumors have painted a blurry picture, which means more clarity is needed before October arrives.

Well, in hopes of providing said clarity, I’ve put together these power rankings of the Lakers’ five hottest players right now. Obviously this is all subjective, but still based on happenings of the last few months that could shape how things play out.

Just as a forewarning, you will not find Lonzo Ball‘s name on this list. It’s been a bumpy offseason for the former No. 2 overall pick. On top of undergoing knee surgery and being forced into a competition for the starting point guard position, he also just became a father. It’s a joyous time, but one that brings many hardships and headaches. Because of these three things, he did not make the Lakers’ top five power rankings as we work our way through August.

Now that we’ve got that all cleared up, let’s take a look at the guys who did make the list. Remember, this is where these Lakers players rank right now in terms of their overall value and momentum. It doesn’t mean they’re the best five players on the roster — just the ones with the most going for them at this moment.
