Minnesota Timberwolves: Complete 2018 offseason grades
By Luke Askew
Overall
The Minnesota Timberwolves had a nice offseason overall. They were relatively quiet, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
While they didn’t have any major signings, they added multiple nice pieces that should improve their overall roster. It all started by drafting Josh Okogie and Keita Bates-Diop and then continued by signing Derrick Rose, Anthony Tolliver and James Nunnally in free agency.
The one major thing that the Wolves missed on was extending Jimmy Butler. They offered him a four-year extension, but he turned it down (surprising nobody).
Butler will be able to make more money next summer if he opts out, so signing an extension this summer wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.
It would be unfair to knock the Wolves too much for their inability to extend Jimmy Butler, but it definitely is going be a factor when it comes time to give them a final grade for this offseason.
So yes, the Wolves had a nice offseason — it just could’ve been better.
