The Portland Trail Blazers have a ton of talent on their roster and are looking for some players to step up this year. Who is next in line for a breakout season on this Blazers team?

The Portland Trail Blazers have the second youngest roster in the NBA and are looking to repeat the success they had in the regular season last year. They finished with a record of 49-33 and the third seed in the playoffs.

Portland got swept in the playoffs and went into this offseason looking to improve some of its weaknesses that were exposed by the New Orleans Pelicans. The Blazers brought in four new players through the draft and free agency and are hoping for some of their other players on the roster step up this season.

This franchise has had success in the past with players having their best seasons in Portland. Sometimes it was staying patient with a player for a few seasons and developing them until they were ready to contribute, like with CJ McCollum, Will Barton, Allen Crabbe and Pat Connaughton. Other times, it was bringing in guys who didn’t fit well on other teams but played well in Portland, like Shabazz Napier, Maurice Harkless, Al-Farouq Aminu, Ed Davis and Jusuf Nurkic.

Damian Lillard, McCollum and Nurkic are the three main players on this team. If Portland wants to have any success this season, it needs those players to be great. The Blazers have some good role players in Aminu, Harkless, Evan Turner and Zach Collins but they need another guy to step up and be a meaningful contributor this season. Here are three players that could take the next step in their careers and have a breakout year for the Blazers in 2018-19.
