Tier 1 – The untouchables

These two are the faces of the franchise. Devin Booker just got his max extension, which was well deserved. Deandre Ayton was just drafted No. 1 overall. They’re not going anywhere.

Perhaps it’s inaccurate to call them “untouchables,” because almost anyone can be traded. Kawhi Leonard was considered untouchable until his falling out with the San Antonio Spurs.

LeBron James is the best player in the league, and one could still argue that it would’ve been wise for the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade him last year, considering he was (likely) going to leave and they (likely) weren’t going to win the Finals. That might not be a good argument, but there’s still at least a conversation that can be had about each player.

So Booker and Ayton aren’t completely untouchable. If the New Orleans Pelicans called for some reason and offered Anthony Davis for Ayton, you’d absolutely have to give that heavy consideration.

Realistically though, these two are the closest thing you could find to a sure bet that they’ll still be on the roster at the end of the season.
