Overall

Looking at the big picture, the Grizzlies have had themselves a fairly decent offseason. While they haven’t made any particularly exciting moves, they addressed some of their most pressing needs.

Injecting youth into the franchise in the form of Jaren Jackson Jr. has the potential to be a home run acquisition and gives them a solid piece to build around if they ultimately decide to blow it up.

Carter should be a worthy understudy for Conley as long as he’s healthy and Anderson gives the Grizz an interesting piece on the wing who still has room to grow.

Temple and Casspi are two proven veterans that will also be able to help Memphis get back into the playoffs. Of course, health is always an issue for the latter, but the former is an underrated 3-and-D player that has had a tremendous impact on locker rooms in each of his stops.

Finally, Johnson is an interesting wild card. He’s far less athletic than Davis, Gasol’s previous backup, but it will be fun to see what he can do when given real NBA minutes.

General manager Chris Wallace and the rest of the Grizzlies brain trust have done a nice job to this point in the offseason and adding Mack to a team with only one real option at backup point guard should help.

With two of the biggest contracts in the NBA clogging up the books, Memphis has done the best it can with limited resources to retool for the upcoming season.
