1. Is LaVine a true franchise building block?

When John Paxson and Gar Forman shipped Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves, it signaled the beginning of a new era in Chicago. It was an acknowledgement that it was time to develop a new foundation. Zach LaVine was expected to be part of that foundation. His new contract all but cemented the front office’s expectation for him to live up to that potential.

However, it doesn’t change the fact that despite last season’s struggles, the Bulls brought LaVine back at a huge cost. They didn’t have to either. They could have let him walk to Sacramento and the rebuild would’ve continued just fine.
