2. Can LaVine improve his shooting percentage?

To justify Chicago matching the Sacramento Kings’ offer sheet for him, LaVine simply has to shoot better from the field.

He really wasn’t good from anywhere on the court last season. He shot 50 percent at the rim, 28 percent from mid-range and 34 percent from 3-point range, per Cleaningtheglass.com. Overall, LaVine’s effective field goal percentage was 44.3 percent. That’s just not good enough for a player with the expectations LaVine carries with him.

For this squad to be better next season, LaVine has to be better offensively. For every 100 shots, LaVine scored 100.5 points in 2017-18 — not exactly the model of efficiency, as it ranked him in the 24th percentile at his position.

It’s not just his shooting either. LaVine assisted on only 18.8 percent of his team’s assists while he was on the floor last season. With Jabari Parker in tow and an improved Lauri Markkanen, LaVine will have to be more of a playmaker on the court for his teammates.
