Signing Seth Curry

Portland’s other new signing does a much better job at pushing the Blazers in the direction towards playoff contention. On July 2, ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team and guard Seth Curry agreed to a two-year, $5.6 million deal, with the second year being a player option.

Curry, brother of Warriors guard Stephen Curry and son of former NBAer Dell Curry, had a breakout 2016-17 campaign. He averaged 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Meanwhile, he shot 48.1 percent from the field and 42.5 percent from 3-point range. If Curry holds form to these numbers, he will ended up being an offensive upgrade over previous backup guard Shabazz Napier.

Unfortunately, Curry was sidelined all of last year due to left tibia issues, so Blazers fans will likely be holding their breath anytime he steps onto the floor this season. Even though he has been cleared to play for months, there will still be concerns about any further injuries. Will his left tibia cause more problems, or could something else flare up?

Hopefully, those concerns will turn out to be much ado about nothing. If so, Curry could prove to be a huge boost off of the bench for a Blazers team that needed more scoring punch from its reserves.
