Detroit Pistons: 3 goals for Blake Griffin in 2018-19
The Detroit Pistons added Blake Griffin last season at the trade deadline. He has the ability to be an All-Star for them this season if he is himself.
The Detroit Pistons invested a ton to pry Blake Griffin away from the Los Angeles Clippers last season at the trade deadline. They sent out Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, a first round pick and a second round pick.
A move like that would hope that they would be competing for more than just a playoff spot this season. However, based on how the Eastern Conference is currently and how the Pistons look, things don’t seem extremely bright.
Griffin, when healthy, is the Pistons’ best player. He gives the team an athletic frontcourt player that can help initiate the offense, rather than forcing everything to start with Reggie Jackson.
Griffin has consistently improved his passing as his career has gone on. He has also consistently added new wrinkles to his game every year. His game was based on his athleticism when he entered the league, but he has been adding more and more finesse as he’s gotten older.
It will be interesting to see what that change will be this year. Maybe new head coach Dwane Casey helps him develop his ability to stretch the floor. Maybe he becomes even more of a point forward in this new offense. Only time will tell what this season will bring for Griffin. He has to work hard to justify the major contract he signed last offseason.
Bearing all this in mind, here’s a look at three goals for the Flyin’ Lion in 2018-19.
