2. Philadelphia 76ers

Another team with cap space heading into the 2018-19 season is the Philadelphia 76ers. The team already has one of the best shooters in the league in J.J. Redick, but could put another talented shooter around Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid by making an offer to bring Ryan Anderson in to join “The Process.”

The 76ers would have to offload some dispensable bench players in order to acquire Anderson, but his 3-point shooting ability could complement the other playmakers on the roster. In addition to taking on Anderson’s contract, the 76ers would also want to receive young assets in the trade, which is why the Rockets would likely need to include rookie De’Anthony Melton, who would replace backup point guards Jerryd Bayless and T.J. McConnell.

For the Rockets, they would be receiving three expiring contracts that would be off the books by the end of next season to give the team the desired cap flexibility, plus a bench stretch-4 in Mike Muscala. The only player with a long-term deal in this trade is Turkish rookie Furkan Korkmaz, who impressed during Summer League with a 40-point performance against the Boston Celtics.
