Washington Wizards: 5 goals for Troy Brown Jr.’s rookie season
2. Finish top five on the team in rebounds
Troy Brown may not be the greatest 3-point shooter, but his ability to get to the rim and rebound the basketball should pay dividends. He comes to the Wizards after averaging 6.2 rebounds per contest in college.
Brown achieved double figures in rebounds in five of his 35 appearances for Oregon in 2017-18. He snagged a career-high 12 rebounds against Texas Southern back on Dec. 11. The Washington Wizards’ bench ranked 17th in the NBA last season in rebounds per game (15.3).
In Summer League, he averaged 6.8 rebounds per game. An added focus on crashing the boards should come in handy for Brown during his rookie season. If he can finish in the top five in rebounds per game off the bench, it should help improve his case as a long-term option for Washington.
With Dwight Howard on the roster, rebounding becomes exponentially easier. If Brown finds himself with Wall and Beal on the floor, it may be best for him to go and try and get an offensive board.
