If the Los Angeles Lakers are active in trade talks this season, which players figure to hear their names mentioned most in the subsequent rumors?

This offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers completely retooled their roster, with the biggest shift coming in the form of signing LeBron James. Unfortunately, it may not be quite enough to elevate them to the top of “contender” ranks heading into 2018-19.

That’s why it’s completely feasible for them to make a move or two between now and the 2019 NBA trade deadline, which is set for Feb. 7. They have a need for another superstar, plenty of assets to play around with, and Magic Johnson at the helm. Suffice it to say, they’re never out of the picture when it comes to trades.

Assuming that’s the case, which players figure to be thrown into the conversations as trade chips? It’s a valid question that deserves consideration, even at this early stage in the process.

Well, as it so happens, that’s the question I’m preparing to answer today. Obviously I possess no magical foresight skills, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try my hand at informed sleuthing from time to time. Plus, isn’t the offseason all about speculation? It’s not like we have any real NBA basketball to discuss as we work our way through August.
